How Common Are Shingles?
Shingles is incredibly common. Each year, over than one million American people have to deal with shingles. The itchy painful rash is caused by the herpes zoster virus (same as chicken pox). A person can experience several signs they have shingles.
Rash. Of all the symptoms of shingles, the most common is a rash that breaks out. It comes out as fluid filled blisters which are incredibly painful when they are touched or if they move. Typically the rash will only occur on a single area or side of the body, rather than the whole thing.
