How Common Are Shingles?
Shingles is incredibly common. Each year, over than one million American people have to deal with shingles. The itchy painful rash is caused by a type of the herpes virus (same as chicken pox). A person can experience several signs they have shingles.
Rash. Of all the symptoms of shingles, the most common is a rash that breaks out. It comes out as fluid filled blisters which are incredibly painful when they are touched or if they move. Typically the rash will only occur on a single area or side of the body, rather than the whole thing.
