Charting Normal Glucose Levels for Diabetic Adults

Damage of high blood sugar. Long term high blood glucose levels will cause an increased risk of having a heart attack, stroke, developing heart disease, damage to the kidneys, damage to the nerves, damage to the eyes, and skin issues. When diabetics have high blood sugar levels, one of the immediate complications occur when the cells do not absorb enough glucose to produce energy, so they burn fat for energy. In moderation this is fine, however, when this happens to a diabetic, the byproducts called ketones will cause the blood to become too acidic. Another immediate complication of high glucose in diabetics is hypersmolar hyperglycemic nonketotic syndrome, in which the body attempts to eliminate excess glucose via the urine. This is problematic because in order to produce urine, the body draws excessive fluid amounts from the blood to continue the urine glucose elimination process. This causes the blood to become thick and syrupy.
