Treatment. Unfortunately, there is no treatment that can reverse the damage after the onset of the disease. However, they can slow the progression and severity of the symptoms, preventing or delaying certain complications and allowing the afflicted-person to feel more comfortable. There are currently two medications used to slow the progression of ALS: Rilutek (a pill) and Radicava (an intravenous infusion treatment). Doctors may also prescribe other medications to provide relief from the various symptoms of the disease. An integrated team consisting or health care professionals with prolong survival and improve one’s quality of life using holistic treatments, nutritional and dietary plans, psychological and social support, and physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
