Squamous Cell Carcinoma Prevention, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Overview and Treatment

Prevention. The best way to avoid squamous cell carcinoma is to literally avoid being out in the sun. Limiting exposure to the sun during its prime part of the day between 10am and 4pm will reduce the chances of skin cell DNA mutation. When exposed to the sun at all, wearing sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, wearing UV protected sunglasses, covering skin with clothes as much as possible, and wearing a hat can greatly lower the risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma. Never using a tanning bed or Ultraviolet lamp and diligently checking the skin monthly for any irregularities will further reduce the chances of developing the disease.
