Squamous Cell Carcinoma Prevention, Symptoms, Diagnosis, Overview and Treatment

Symptoms. Squamous cell cancer almost always occurs in the regions of the body that have been the most exposed to ultraviolet radiation or the sun. The face, hands, ears, mouth, and pelvic areas are the most common places for the disease to develop. At first the skin will appear to have a red patch of scaly skin and then it will grow into a bump that is raised and may keep growing. These cancerous spots also frequently crust and bleed, and often appear at the site of an already existing birthmark, scar, or mole.
