Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosing and Treatment for Nerve Pain

Causes. Pain has a purpose. Ironically, it keeps us from getting hurt. It’s what makes people immediately let go of a hot pan. The pain signal travels along a nerve to the brain in a flash, and the brain tells the hand to open. Nerve pain, on the other hand, requires no stimulus. It sends a pain signal to the brain for no apparent reason. This confuses the nervous system. It thinks there is an emergency when there is none. The pain, seemingly without cause, persists for an undetermined amount of time because the brain can not see the danger that the nerves are alerting it to.
