The Causes, Symptoms and Types of Seizures

Causes of a seizure. There are many conditions that can cause seizures, some temporary and some permanent. Seizures can be caused by an injury from something outside the body: head trauma, insect stings, electric shock or drug abuse. They can be a sign of something happening within the body: drug and alcohol withdrawal, brain infections, or the growth of a brain tumor. Finally, they can be caused by a preexisting condition: birth defects, epilepsy or childhood brain injury.
