Symptoms. Symptoms in very young children may be mild or silent. Other people have a fever, a sore throat that can sometimes be severe, loss of appetite, fatigue and swollen lymph glands. This is most often seen in the patient’s groin, armpits or their neck. They may also have a painful, enlarged spleen, headache and body aches.
