Outlook for brain aneurysm patients. Aneurysms can sometimes be prevented from rupturing by changing the diet to whole, fresh foods and minimizing processed foods. Moderate, though not excessive, exercise and management of stress play an important role. For patients with unruptured aneurysms detected early, survival is very likely through medical management and lifestyle. For patients with ruptured aneurysms, the mortality rate is about 40%. Those who do recover may suffer neurological damage similar to someone who had a stroke. Rehabilitative therapy is often necessary. Careful monitoring after a brain aneurysm is important, as the chances of it happening again are higher.
