The Risks, Procedure and Recovery of Lasik Surgery

Long term recovery. Complete healing from Lasik takes about six months, but most people experience their sharpest vision about a month after the surgery. The patient will need to see their doctor regularly during that time to make sure that all is going well. They’ll be able to wear eye makeup a few weeks after the surgery, but it will be a couple of months until they can participate in activities such as contact sports or swimming. In the end, the chances are very good that the patient’s vision will have improved to at least 20/25 or even better, and they will no longer need to wear contact lenses or glasses. Patients should know that presbyopia, that type of farsightedness that happens with age, does not mean that the Lasik has failed. Presbyopia is a natural aging process of the eyes.
