The Signs, Symptoms and Causes of Tuberculosis

Causes. Though M. tuberculosis is the most common cause of tuberculosis, the disease can also be transmitted by other types of mycobacteria. These include M. bovis, canetti, microti and africanum as well as M. leprae, avium and kansasii. Mycobacteria are aerobic, acid-fast, have outer membranes and usually can’t move well by themselves. They are rod shaped.
