The Symptoms, Causes, Risk Factors and Treatment of Jaundice in Adults

Symptoms. The first sign of jaundice is a yellow tint to the skin. This can be most easily seen in those who have light-colored skin though. For someone who has a darker skin tone, a doctor may have to look at the eyes instead. The white area surrounding the pupil and iris will turn dark yellow as the bilirubin level builds up. The other symptoms that a person experiences when they have jaundice are caused by their underlying liver problems, such as pale stools, nausea, fatigue, fever, and dark urine.
