The Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatment of Polycystic Kidney Disease

Diagnosis. Diagnosing polycystic kidney disease is fairly simple. All a doctor has to do is a sonogram or x-ray of the kidneys to be able to see the cysts that cover the organs. The liver and pancreas may be checked next because this disorder can sometimes cause them to develop cysts as well. Genetic testing is often recommended too because the condition can’t be fully confirmed without verifying if a person has the genes that carry it. Lastly, blood and urine tests may be done to determine how well the kidneys and other organs are still functioning.
