The Types of Seizures, Causes and Treatment of Epilepsy

Focal Seizures. Unlike general seizures, focal seizures come from abnormal activity in one location of the brain. There are two types of focal seizures: simple and complex. Simple focal seizures result in sudden shifts in emotions and mood. They also affect the senses and may cause nausea. On the other hand, complex seizures cause altered states of consciousness in which the person engages in repetitive behaviors such as walking in a circle, blinking repeatedly, or twitching. In both types, the person is unaware they had a seizure and often continues whatever they were doing before the seizure occurred.
