Avoid bladder irritants. Certain foods can irritate the bladder. They activate it and increase the instances of night time urination even if the bladder is not full. These foods are best to be avoided as much as possible until a steady bedtime routine is set. If they cannot be avoided, it is important to at least not eat them in the latter part of the day or just before bedtime. Common bladder irritants are spicy foods and citruses. Spicy foods are best to be avoided late in the day. Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons, and grapefruits are also on the list of irritating foods. This is due to the acidity in these foods. Take this advice with a grain of salt as diet is only a minor reason for nighttime bladder incontinence.
