Wheezing Causes and Risk Factors

Risk Factors. Many factors may put an individual at a higher risk of developing chronic wheezing that can both be hereditary and or environmental. Conditions that cause wheezing such as asthma can run in an individuals family and be inherited from generation to generation. Additionally, cancers of the lungs can also run in ones family putting an individual at a high risk of developing wheezing due to the obstruction of lung cancer. Individuals who have allergies or hay fever are at a higher risk of experiencing wheezing during an allergy flare up. Young children who stay in daycares and or have siblings that go to school and stay in daycares are also at an increased risk of developing infections that can cause wheezing. Finally, individuals who smoke any type of tobacco, vapors, and or drugs are also at a high risk of developing wheezing.
