Enlarged Heart Diagnosis & Treatment

An enlarged heart is a very common condition and many different people suffer from it. It’s important to remember that this is not a disease. It’s not a condition or syndrome. An enlarged heart is a sign that some other issue in the body exists. Enlarged hearts are also referred to as cardiomegaly. When a heart enlarges, it’s forced to work a lot harder than normal. Further testing is very important at this point in order determine what may be causing the enlarged heart.

Not all enlarged hearts are permanent. Excessive stress on the body and heart can be caused by a lot of different conditions. It’s common for pregnant women to acquire an enlarged heart, only for it to go away when the pregnancy reaches fruition. If not for stress or pregnancy, it’s usually medical conditions causing an enlarged heart. Specifically it’s conditions which have found a way to weaken the heart in some way.
