Enlarged Heart Diagnosis & Treatment

Causes. As mentioned earlier, an enlarged heart is caused by issues in the body causing the heart to work harder and suffer damage. Some people suffer from what’s known as an idiopathic enlarged heart. This version has absolutely no cause that people can determine.

High blood pressure causes the heart to work very hard to pump blood. It’s very difficult. This can thicken the heart. As the enlarged ventricle works too hard it thickens and weakens. People who suffer from pulmonary hypertension can have it cause an enlarged heart as well.

The heart works with four valves. These valves work in unison to pump blood. Any sort of damage to the valves can cause an enlarged heart.
