Preparing for cardiac ablation. After having an assessment to record and observe the heart’s rhythm and electrical impulses, the doctor ordering the procedure will go over the advantages and risks of a cardiac ablation procedure. Any medications, allergies, and implanted medical devices should be discussed with the attending physician in regards to taking them prior to the procedure. Most likely the patient will not be permitted to eat or drink within 8 hours of the ablation.
