Signs and symptoms. Signs of gastric ulcers will depend on the person and the severity of the ulcer. The most common symptoms that a patient will experience are abdominal discomfort that occurs after a meal and minimal indigestion. However, some people do not experience symptoms at all. Some people will find that one to three hours after they have a meal they will have upper abdominal burning or a feeling similar to hunger pain.
